Water
The Town’s water is supplied from three wells that have been designated “under the influence of surface water” by the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) as determined by the requirements of the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR). The water goes through a series of treatment processes, including coagulation, filtration, nitrate removal, softening, disinfection and fluoridation. After treatment, the water is pumped to three elevated water towers, where it is held for distribution to our citizens. The water towers also provide emergency storage and fire flow reserves for the Town. Our water meets all Federal and State safe drinking water requirements and is delicious too!
