Town Elections

Town elections are held in the Town Hall on the 2nd Monday of September every 3 years. The next election is Monday, September 10, 2018! The Board consists of a Burgess (Mayor) and five Commissioners. Terms last for three (3) years.

Eligibility for Candidacy

Burgess – Legal resident of the Town of Walkersville for a minimum of five (5) years immediately preceding the general election, at least thirty (30) years of age as of the date of the general election and a qualified voter of the Town of Walkersville.

Commissioner – Legal resident of the Town of Walkersville for a minimum of three (3) years immediately preceding the general election, at least twenty-five (25) years of age as of the date of the general election and a qualified voter of the Town of Walkersville.

Voter Registration

If you live within the corporate limits of the Town and wish to vote in Town Elections in addition to national, state, and county elections, you must register with the Frederick County Board of Elections, The Bourne Building, 355 Montevue Lane, Suite 101  Frederick, MD  21702.  If you prefer, you may register by mail by picking up a form at the Town Hall. You will automatically be registered to vote in Town Elections.

Applications for Absentee Ballots are available at Town Hall and must be filed TBD.
