The Town is currently accepting Letters of Interest for the position of Alternate Election Supervisor. Alternates are available on election day, September 10, 2018, to assist 3 Election Supervisors, possibly checking in voters, handing out ballots, monitoring ballot boxes and election booths, as needed.
Town elections are held in the Town Hall on the 2nd Monday of September every 3 years. The next election is Monday, September 10, 2018! The Board consists of a Burgess (Mayor) and five Commissioners. Terms last for three (3) years. The election will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Eligibility for Candidacy
Burgess – Legal resident of the Town of Walkersville for a minimum of one(1) year immediately preceding the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy, at least thirty (30) years of age as of the date of the general election and a qualified voter of the Town of Walkersville.
Commissioner – Legal resident of the Town of Walkersville for a minimum of one (1) year immediately preceding the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy, at least twenty-five (25) years of age as of the date of the general election and a qualified voter of the Town of Walkersville.
If you live within the corporate limits of the Town and wish to vote in Town Elections in addition to national, state, and county elections, you must register with the Frederick County Board of Elections, 340A Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD 21702. If you prefer, you may register by mail by picking up a form at the Town Hall. You will automatically be registered to vote in Town Elections.
Applications for Absentee Ballots are available at Town Hall and must be filed TBD.
